S E A was retained by MIT to provide planning input into the design of the proposed 320,000 square-foot Stata Center Complex. S E A was charged with reviewing traffic flow of pedestrians, cars and service vehicles; utility capacity and locations; tunnel improvements and connections between buildings; zoning, wind, and shadow effects. S E A provided plans for a new underground truck service center that is 18,000 square feet and includes space for five trucks, eighteen delivery vans, and five dumpsters. S E A 's work lead to a determination of vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle courts, as well as an analysis of peak service demand, all of which helped determine the design parameters for this facility.
