Waste Management and Materials Handling Study Yale University New Haven, Connecticut
S E A was retained by the University to conduct a Waste Management and Materials Handling Study for the campus. Like other historic campuses, Yale maintains its traditional image by ensuring all sides of a building are as attractive as the front door. For deliveries, facilities managers and purchasing departments have adopted the "just in time" approach, involving smaller vehicles but a much larger number of trips. The project goals were to define critical operational characteristics and recommend the site/facility modifications required for effective loading, waste management and recycling. S E A's report outlined central issues and creative options for the University while reinforcing the advisability of developing consistent policies and campus-wide approaches.
