Army Aviation Support Facility
Concord, NH
New Hampshire Army National Guard
Fed/State/Mil
The Guard’s former facility was small and inefficient. S E A designed a two-story, 106,500 sf facility housing administrative offices, aviation operations, hangar space for nine Blackhawk helicopters, and a variety of support shops. A separate building provides unheated storage for five fuel trucks.

Sustainable features
Listed as an endangered species by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1992, much of the Karner blue butterfly’s natural habitat has been lost as a result of land development. S E A’s design offers protection to the species by not developing portions of the property. S E A also implemented creative stormwater solutions and utilized insulated fabric “mega doors” in the hangar to boost energy efficiency while providing natural light.
Client collaboration
Pre-design analysis and frequent discussions with the Guard set a clear direction for the new facility. The client and design team also visited a new AASF in Montana and identified design features that would enhance the New Hampshire project.
