The City of Providence, is situated at the head waters of Narragansett Bay, which forms New England’s largest estuary; functioning as a large natural harbor. The Narragansett Bay Commission required a new design for their Field’s Point Wastewater Treatment Facility to reduce total nitrogen before discharging to the bay.

This project will help preserve the natural environment of Narragansett Bay by improving water quality through biological wastewater treatment.
Client collaboration
S E A worked closely with the Narragansett Bay Commission to design a $30 million upgrade to the treatment facility, treating wastewater from Providence and surrounding communities, to reduce nitrogen in the treated effluent to 5 mg/l or less to improve water quality in Narragansett Bay.
