Transportation
Faced with community complaints on the reliability, size, and number of elevators at many locations, the MBTA selected S E A to design additional "redundant" elevator service at several key intermodal stations. The design incorporates strategically positioned, larger, glass-enclosed elevators and when one is out of service, a "stand-by" will be available.
Sustainable features
Improving the MBTA’s vertical circulation in 5 key intermodal stations and creating redundant accessible paths, encourages the use of public transportation. Larger, safer, new elevators, offer MBTA patrons a more reliable commute.
Client collaboration
The oldest subway system in the U.S. has faced enormous logistical & financial issues in the past few decades and is updating its infrastructure to increase accessibility.
S E A is working closely with the MBTA, the access community, and the cities of Boston & Cambridge to build elevators offering patrons improved access routes.
