For the Town of Fairfield, S E A prepared construction documents for the replacement of two bridges which carry Harbor Road over the Mill River. The need for this project was based on the condition of the existing structures which were structurally deficient and were load restricted to six tons. The project required two new bridges, an improved drainage system, intersection improvements,the reconstruction of approximately 370 feet of Harbor Road, and the reconstruction of sanitary sewer and water mains within the project limits.

Particular challenges of the project included: minimizing impacts to wetlands and properties; prohibiting unconfined in-stream activities during a period when anadromous species attempt to migrate upstream; working with a seven foot tide differential; and designing a traffic plan to maintain access to adjacent properties and for emergency vehicles throughout the construction of the project.
