S E A was selected by the City of Worcester to design the repair and rehabilitation of the North Lake Avenue Bridge, a historic stone arch structure built in 1894. Tasks included the geotechnical investigation of the bridge abutments and recommendations for stabilizing the foundations, a hydraulic report to recommend the scour protection measures necessary to stabilize the erosion of the foundation; permitting and documentation necessary to complete the environmental engineering work; and preliminary and final highway design including the base plans, profiles and sections. Final bridge design included design of the superstructure and of the substructure, bridge layout geometrics, contract drawings including repair, rehabilitation and foundation details, and cost estimates. S E A also provided construction monitoring for this project.
