S E A was retained to design 30,000 sf of new DPW facility consisting of the DPW administrative area, common employee spaces, vehicle maintenance and a central supply room. Additonal site features included a fuel island, salt, and sand storage. Existing site information was reviewed, several DEP file searches were conducted for hazardous materials, and environmental recommendations were made. Test pits were dug and preliminary soils evaluations made. The availability of all utilities was determined and the potential impact of the new facility on the neighborhood was studied, including an analysis of the traffic patterns. Cost estimates were made for site demolition/preparation and construction of the new facility. The total construction cost is $4.4 million.
