S E A is currently under contract to reconstruct a traffic signal and 2,000 meters of roadway in the section of Palmer named Three Rivers. To address safety concerns caused by limited sight distance, a fully actuated traffic signal will be constructed at the intersection of Main Street, Springfield Street, and Bridge Street to replace the existing flashing warning beacons. Each approach will be equipped with one overhead signal head, for improved visibility and the signal will be coordinated with the adjacent railroad signal, located approximately 60 meters east of the intersection. Cement sidewalks, designed in accordance with the latest ADA requirements, are proposed along the entire length of the south side of the roadway and along both sides of the roadways at the traffic signal location. Existing roadway drainage and guardrail systems will also be upgraded, as necessary, as part of the project.
