For almost a decade, S E A has been the prime consultant for the City's $40 million Sewer Separation and Storm Water Management Program. The work includes: the evaluation of the existing systems including field investigations; sewer cleaning and hydraulic modeling; preliminary design recommendations incorporating considerations for innovative technologies such as trenchless construction and repair; oil and hazardous materials investigations; traffic and safety analyses; permitting; utility coordination; and recommended system improvements such as sewer separations and preliminary treatment of river outfall discharges. To date, S E A has evaluated the design of 100,000 lineal feet of sewer separation to identify opportunities for trenchless methods of construction. The cost savings has been over $1.5 million to the City of Cambridge.
