S E A was retained by the Town of Pepperell to perform a study in the form of a preliminary engineering report (PER) to evaluate the existing WWTF. Built in the 1970s, many of the existing facilities, processes and components of the Pepperell WWTF were beyond their design life. Although the facility consistently met its NPDES permit for major pollutant parameters, the equipment did not have the lifespan, capacity, or flexibility to meet future effluent limits under an expanded facility. S E A identified several upgrades required for the facility to meet future wastewater flow needs, and to provide consistent wastewater treatment. The upgraded and expanded facility began operation in late 2004.
