Economic Stimulus Legislation Expected Early 2009

Could bring as much as $140 billion for infrastructure programs

01/05/2009 - The incoming Obama administration and Democratic leaders in Congress plan to move forward with an economic stabilization and recovery bill early in 2009. Some reports have indicated as much as $140 billion for infrastructure programs.

A recent "Legislative Update" from the ACEC states, "We continue to expect that funds for highways, bridges, and transit will likely be distributed using existing statutory formulas. Airport, passenger rail and Army Corps funds will be at the discretion of the relevant federal agencies. There is an increasing likelihood of setting aside transportation funding ... The exact percentages have not been determined, but some level of transportation funding can be expected to trickle down to the local level."

S E A will continue to provide related updates at this page. For more information, see the ACEC letter to congressional leadership supporting a bill that advances infrastructure improvements.

What our clients say...

This project required a complex sequence of utility relocations to clear the sites and to clear the street for tunnel construction. S E A has done an extraordinary job and knows very well university needs, site planning and engineering, as well as the process of implantation, permitting, and construction.
