S E A Wins 2009 GoGreen Award

City of Cambridge honors green roof design

06/03/2009 - S E A was the recipient of a 2009 GoGreen Award for its design contribution to the green roof at University Park, 23 Sydney Street, Cambridge, MA. The GoGreen awards recognize local businesses and organizations that have exceptional practices in energy use, transportation, waste reduction, stormwater, or climate protection.

University Park at MIT was developed by Forest City in cooperation with MIT and the City of Cambridge, and has been recognized as one of the foremost examples of urban redevelopment in the nation. The Park integrates ten life science research and office buildings together with nearly 700 residential units, retail services, a hotel, structured parking and over three acres of carefully designed parks and open space.

The 8,400-sf green roof reduces the annual volume of stormwater run-off by 47%. In addition, it provides energy efficiency by blocking the sunlight in the summer and providing added insulation for the winter.

What our clients say...

This project required a complex sequence of utility relocations to clear the sites and to clear the street for tunnel construction. S E A has done an extraordinary job and knows very well university needs, site planning and engineering, as well as the process of implantation, permitting, and construction.
