S E A Stockholders Expand Board of Directors
Three new members elected for 2009
06/23/2009 - S E A stockholders voted in a new Board of Directors for 2009. With this recent election, the Board is expanded to include two new internal members and an outside Director. New members are Karen Arpino, Al Wells, P.E., and
R. Drew Ogden.
Karen Arpino is S E A's Chief Marketing Officer and oversees the firm's Transportation sector. Ms. Arpino has more than 26 years of experience managing the design and construction of mass transit projects. She received her Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering and a B.S. in Architectural Engineering at the Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Before joining S E A, she spent fifteen years with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), serving for five years as the Director of Design and Construction. In this role, Karen directed the MBTA's $500M annual expansion and infrastructure reinvestment program. She supervised over 300 employees in a multitude of design and construction projects working in such functional areas as design review, quality assurance, quality control, safety, environmental management, scheduling, contract management, auditing, budgeting and real-estate acquisition.
Some of the projects Ms. Arpino has worked on at S E A include the design of 16 new elevators in six transit stations to improve accessibility for the MBTA; a new Bus Rapid Transit Project for Connecticut DOT which includes 10 stations along a nine-mile dedicated busway from New Britain to Hartford; and HVAC and architectural improvements at Logan Airport's Terminal C for Massport.
Ms. Arpino is an active member and former president of the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS).
Mr. Wells is the Manager of S E A's Rocky Hill, CT, office. Previously, he was the Manager of S E A's Water Resources Group in its Cambridge, MA headquarters. Mr. Wells joined S E A in 1987 as a co-operative education student while attending Northeastern University. During the span of his more than 20 years at S E A, Mr. Wells has performed in most every engineering and management role associated with the planning, design, permitting, construction administration and resident engineering of water resources projects throughout New England. Project types Mr. Wells has worked on include new drinking water supplies, water treatment plants, water pumping stations, water distribution systems, water storage facilities, wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection systems, wastewater pumping stations, treated wastewater discharges, Title 5 on-site sewage disposal systems, and stormwater collection and treatment systems.
Some specific projects Mr. Wells has worked on include a multi-year wastewater collection system expansion and wastewater treatment plant upgrade in the town of Medfield, MA; a new water supply, storage, and distribution system for the Massachusetts Military Reservation in Cape Cod; and the study, design and planning of wastewater collection system and treatment plant improvements for the City of Pittsfield, MA. Mr. Wells is a registered engineer in MA and CT and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Environmental Engineering, both from Northeastern University. Mr. Wells is also a licensed Construction Supervisor.
Drew Ogden is a founder and Managing Member of the Ascentage Group, a Concord, NH, based-firm that acts as an advisor and facilitates the growth and business development needs of its clients. Mr. Ogden's role at Ascentage involves facilitating the business development needs of high-tech ventures and creative enterprises, including advising clients in the areas of strategic planning; channel expansion; licensing; international business; and private equity fund-raising and facilitating strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to Ascentage, Mr. Ogden was the Vice President of Legal and Business Development at Softdesk, Inc., a Nasdaq company that developed and distributed CAD software for architects and engineers worldwide. At Softdesk, he was part of the executive management team that took the company public and was responsible for negotiating strategic licensing agreements, spin-offs and multiple acquisitions. Ultimately, Autodesk (ADSK) acquired Softdesk in 1997.
Mr. Ogden holds a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center and a B.S. degree in Finance from Franklin Pierce College. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and a registered principal holding the FINRA Series 24, 82 and 63 licenses.
