Bob Burnham's Design Wins First Place
Supports City of Chelsea's Healthier Neighborhoods Renovation
10/09/2009 - Bob Burnham, AIA, LEED AP, received first place in the Chelsea Neighborhood Developers (CND) Design Competition. His challenge was to come up with a redesign on a classic Boston triple-decker to help the revitalization of Chelsea's "Box District." His design and elevations can be seen here. Bob's design disassembles the elements of the facade such that a new identity and sense of order can be established and locates premium materials and accents in closest proximity to the entrance for family members to enjoy. Material selections consist of long-life materials which minimize repairs and cost, and are easily installed. The CND seeks to engage Chelsea's residents in determining neighborhood changes through neighborhood planning, transforming under-utilized commercial sites and evolving problematic residential neighborhoods into healthy neighborhoods. Bob's facade redesign will be implemented in various neighborhood triple-deckers.
What our clients say...
This project required a complex sequence of utility relocations to clear the sites and to clear the street for tunnel construction. S E A has done an extraordinary job and knows very well university needs, site planning and engineering, as well as the process of implantation, permitting, and construction.
