Thought Leadership: 3D BIM and Visualization Software

Harvard School of Public Health's Safety in Design and Construction Program

01/28/2010 - Today's 3D BIM and visualization software enables users to bring safety to a project during the design phase. Through the use of automated clash detection and situational visualization for construction, operation, and maintenance activity, potential safety issues can be mitigated before construction ever begins, resulting in a safer construction site and working facility.

James MacDonald will be a guest professor at the Harvard School of Public Health's Center for Continuing Professional Education Safety in Design & Construction: A Lifecycle Approach program, February 22-26.

James is a Practice Technology Leader at Kleinfelder/S E A with twelve years of varied experience in civil engineering design and construction, web development, geographic information systems (GIS), and related technologies. He uniquely combines engineering and construction experience with technical proficiency and knowledge of a wide range of advanced software. He specializes in the use of Autodesk and ESRI solutions to produce and manage drawing sets, engineering designs, and GIS data.

What our clients say...

This project required a complex sequence of utility relocations to clear the sites and to clear the street for tunnel construction. S E A has done an extraordinary job and knows very well university needs, site planning and engineering, as well as the process of implantation, permitting, and construction.
