MASSPORT East Boston Piers Park

This project included the rebuilding of an old pier to accommodate recreation areas and a community boating facility. The pier was an environmental and aesthetic burden on this economically disadvantaged community and also presented significant safety hazards. S E A provided fast-track assessment and design of remedial measures to enable park construction to proceed on schedule and was able to integrate environmental management into the overall engineering and construction of this significant project, minimizing delays and reducing costs.

S E A's work included full-time resident inspection, marine engineering and permitting, civil engineering and landscape architecture, hazardous waste site assessment and remediation design, environmental permitting, public participation, and architecture and building engineering. The new park has been acclaimed as one of the finest urban waterfront parks in the United States.
