NHDOT Weeks Traffic Circle Dover, New Hampshire
This project included the final design and preparation of contract plans and right-of-way purchase plans for the reconstruction of an at-grade intersection to replace an obsolete rotary traffic circle. The project limits included approximately one mile of roadway reconstruction, including three separate traffic signal systems. The project site is subject to very high volumes of traffic and is developed commercially with many driveway access points. The site had many underground utilities including multiple sanitary sewer lines, multiple water lines, gas, underground electric, and telephone, including fiber optic cables.
A comprehensive traffic control plan was developed, including the use of temporary signal systems and coordination of the phased construction work. The right-of-way negotiations were completed simultaneous with the final design of the project. This effort required close coordination with the client and flexibility from the design team to quickly incorporate requested revisions in a timely manner.
