S E A was hired by the MBTA for an on-call contract to provide architectural/engineering services on an as-needed basis. Tasks have ranged from environmental peer reviews to studying busway activity and making recommendations for improvements. The S E A team works in close collaboration with the MBTA to respond quickly to each assignment. Projects that have been completed or are underway include updating the MBTA's 1980 Version of the MBTA's standard specifications; an independent peer review of a method two risk characterization at JFK Station on the red line; repairs to the concrete deck and the drainage system at the Alewife Parking Garage; the study and design of mini-high platforms to replace wayside lifts at 22 Greenline surface stations; and the study of existing conditions and recommending immediate improvements as well as long-term solution to improve conflicts between parked cars, pedestrians, drop-off and pick-up of passengers, and bus activity at the Quincy Center Station.
